Learn to innovate, create, and communicate in today’s connected world. Communications Technology is offered in Grades 10, 11, and 12.
Explore the world of computer graphics, photography, audio and video production, and animation through the Communications Technology program at Maxwell Heights Secondary School. Students learn how to plan, create, and produce quality projects while developing technical skills and creative confidence. Whether it’s capturing the perfect photo, producing a short film, or designing eye-catching digital content, this program encourages imagination, collaboration, and real-world application.
Start your journey in Grade 10 (TGJ2O1) with an introduction to media production and design tools. Continue to Grade 11 (TGJ3M1) to further build skills in graphic design and animation. In Grade 12 (TGJ4M1), students have the opportunity to refine their skills, build a personal portfolio, and prepare for post-secondary programs or careers in media, communications, or the arts.
Additional emphasis courses are available in Grade 11 in the areas of Photography, Video Production, and Yearbook.
What do students say about communications technology?
"I enjoyed the Communications Technology class because we got to explore all aspects of the communication technology world from photography to animation to graphic design. I also loved that we were able to go around the school and take shots or pictures for the class!" – Past Comm Tech Student
